Atlanta to Nashville

We have visited so many iconic places during this trip and today was no exception. On the way to Nashville we stopped at Chattanooga to see the Choo Choo. The station and trains have been fully restored with sections of the old building now being converted into a boutique hotel.

Hurricane Harvey is still causing significant rainfall across Louisiana and Tennessee and we drove through it for most of the day. It was still raining when we arrived in Nashville so with brolly in hand we set off to explore this very loud, brash and unique city. We stopped at Luigi's for a quick lunch. Their southern fried chicken was sensational. We then visited the Johnny Cash Museum. Ninety minutes disappeared quickly. The music, movies, clothing & boots, records, household items, posters, etc, were just so interesting and for me bought back so many memories of sitting in the kitchen in Melba Street, listening to Ine's record collection, which certainly included a lot of Johnny Cash. Downtown Nashville is loud. Every shop, bar and restaurant plays music which can be heard on the street and it all blends together in an outrageous cacophony. Most stores have large neon signs - the modern day shingle. These just add to the atmosphere which is quite electric. Stephen and I wandered back to the bus with smiles on our faces.

Our last stop for the day was RCA Studio B - the place where hundreds of number one hits were recorded. We did a studio tour before recording (as a group) Elvis' "Good Luck Charm." It was all a bit of fun but we certainly won't be troubling the hit parade. You can see some of the artists who recorded songs at the studio here.
