Relaxing on board

This is the view from our balcony of the majestic Hungarian Parliament building.

Stephen, sitting on the balcony - enjoying the view.

We deliberately chose not to do much today. It is exceptionally hot again. We have spent the day enjoying all the boat has to offer. The staff are so attentive it is embarrassing. We set sail at 5.00pm. As we travel north we are to be entertained by Hungarian musicians. It is the Gala dinner or the Captain's welcome dinner tonight. The captain is a huge man from the Netherlands. He walks around in decorated clogs. He is jovial and loud but as we watched him park the boat last night it was obvious that he is an absolute expert at what he does. The number and variety of cruise boats on the river is mind boggling and manouvering and docking is a real feat. Apparently we go through 68 locks in the total cruise. Silvie, our French cruise director, said that the first 4 or 5 are very exciting and interesting and after that - nah, not so interesting!!!

At about 10.00pm tonight we pass by Esztergom for one last look. It is then onto Vienna with a full day of sailing ahead of us tomorrow.
